Training and supervision of doctoral students

 

 

Both departments enjoy a first-rate track record of training promising doctoral researchers in their graduate schools and placing them successfully in the international academic job market.

CRC doctoral researchers will be trained at:

 

 

Short intensive courses given by visiting researchers at one location will be open to doctoral students from the other location. We encourage joint supervision of doctoral dissertations with the main supervisor at one node and the co-supervisor at the other.

Both programs feature:

  • a centralized application process
  • a structured course phase before the dissertation phase
  • extensive mentoring, supervision and quality control
  • specific preparation for the academic job market
